Ag Committee

The Hall County Agricultural Committee focuses on educating youth on the importance of agriculture through agricultural awareness and educational events. We also want to thank our farmers, ranchers, and producers for their continued commitment to agriculture.

The Agricultural Committee contacts businesses annually and requests investment in our events by being a Corporate Sponsor. Your $300 investment funds these programs and brings awareness of your support of the ag industry. Your business is recognized in many ways at our events, including your name on all printed material at these ag events and during presentations.

Some of the programs the Agricultural Committee works on throughout the year are highlighted below.

Local High School Scholarships –Your sponsorship provides two $500 scholarships for Hall County students pursuing post-secondary education in various areas of agriculture. The scholarships are traditionally awarded at the Ag Appreciation event held during the Hall County Fair.

Ag Day – Nearly 900 4th  grade students from Grand Island and surrounding schools enjoy hands-on educational experiences and demonstrations about the world of ag and livestock production. Ag Day helps bridge the gap between our urban and rural communities and illustrates the linkage between ag products and the businesses that make the products. In 2021 the Ag Committee and Nebraska Agriculture in the classroom created a virtual Ag Day that consisted of short video series along with a fun interactive review game to test the students’ knowledge. Students learned about crop production, and each classroom received a toolkit with supplies for hands-on activities.

Ag Appreciation Event – To thank producers for contributing to the economic vitality of our area, the Corporate Sponsors host 500 area farmers, ranchers, and 4-H families for a casual meal during the Hall County Fair. This is our way of thanking the producers for contributing to the area’s economic vitality. For 2021 we plan to have the event and will adapt to a different plan as needed, based on the current conditions of the pandemic.

Little Feet on the Farm – Over 750 children and families participate in Little Feet on the Farm at the Hall County Fair. Youth spend “Time on the Farm” interacting at various farming stations, traveling to the “Tractor Lot” to fuel their pedal tractor, and visiting the “Grocery Store” to restock the shelves with the products collected on the farm. These activities highlight a “Field to Fork” concept.

We believe agriculture is a staple of Grand Island and Hall County. With your sponsorship dollars, we will continue to educate our youth and recognize our Ag producers. The Hall County Agriculture Committee’s partnership with the Hall County Agricultural Society provides us with the opportunity to continue our plan for promoting agriculture in Hall County.

The Agricultural Committee appreciates your support! To ensure your company’s name is included on all promotional material, please submit sponsorship funds by February 15th of the current year.
